Nahum is a sequel to Jonah really. God extended His grace to the Assyrians in Jonah - who temporarily repented - but eventually they returned to their wicked ways. Now God says through Nahum, the destruction Jonah preached about would happen since their repentance wasn't sincere. This encourages the people of God and actually helps us share the full gospel.
